Earth Science Week Contests 2007


Photography Contest

Andrew Burkus of Columbus, Georgia won 1st place in this year's Earth Science Week photo contest with his photo of travertine deposits at Minerva Terrace in Yellowstone National Park. To see his photograph click here.

Finalists (in alphabetical order):

Submissions illustrated the theme "People Discovering Earth's Treasures". Submissions could include print or digital photographs.


Visual Arts Contest

Jay Purohit of Plano, Texas won 1st place in the Visual Arts contest with his poster about the many aspects of our Changing Earth. Click here to see his art.

Finalists (in alphabetical order):

Students in grades K-5 made a drawing, collage or other 2-dimensional piece of artwork illustrating the theme "Changing Earth."


Essay Contest

Shanniqua Mendiola of Yigo, Guam won 1st place in the Essay contest with her essay about Earth science on her island home. To view her essay click here.

Finalists (in alphabetical order):

Students grades 6-9 addressed this year's Earth Science Week theme "Earth Science In My Community" Essays were no more than 300 words in length.
